Common questions about our services
How do I know the advice is in my best interests?
When Simon gives you personal advice, the law requires him to act in your best interests in relation to that advice (Corporations Act 2001, section 961B). [2] Our Financial Services Guide (FSG) sets out our fees, licensing and how we’re paid. You can also search the Financial Advisers Register on Moneysmart. It lists advisers who give personal advice on investments, superannuation and life insurance, and the licensee that authorises them.
What does a retirement planner do?
A retirement planner looks at your super, savings, investments and the Age Pension alongside what you want retirement to look like, and brings them into one plan. Simon also covers tax, aged care and estate planning where they’re relevant to you.
Is the service only for people with large balances?
No. People come to Simon with many different balances. In the Fit Check, Simon talks through your situation and whether advice suits your needs, and our Pricing page explains how fees work.
Will I be asked to sign anything at the first meeting?
The first step is a 30-minute Fit Check by phone or video call. If you go ahead, Simon explains your advice in plain English, and you can take it home and read it before you decide.
What should I have ready for the first meeting?
A rough idea of your super balances, savings, debts and income, and what you’d like retirement to look like. You don’t need exact figures for the Fit Check.
